This member of the Cactaceae family was given this name by Franz Buxbaum in 1975. It is found in Mexico, growing in grit with little water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to ten centimetres or more, the long slim branches to two meters. The flowers are dark red, and the plant can be reproduced both by seeds and cuttings.
This is a tough plant to photograph. Selling a nice specimen, well-rooted 4" pot size with long tendrils. Ready to bloom.

Growth Habits: Shrub, much branched, up to 6.5 feet tall (2 m), olive green stems up to 0.8 inches in diameter (2 cm); 8-10 ribs; small blackish areoles 0.4 to 0.8 inches apart (1-2 cm); 3-4 conical central spines; 8-9 acicular black radials; old areoles lose their spines.
