Notocactus leninghausii, native to Brazil and Paraguay, can grow to 2' in height, forming clusters of semi-columnar stems covered with dense, harmless golden spines. Gorgeous, large lemon yellow flowers in summer. Requires porous cactus soil with adequate drainage. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch during active growing season. Less water during winter months. Some cold tolerance, but best to protect from frost. This Notocactus is grown with organic, pesticide-free methods.
